When we were kids, Grandpa would take Susan and me to the area and we always loved going to the one room schoolhouse that he attended. He was there through eighth grade. It was always fun for us to play in the building and think of our grandpa as a little boy there.
I think that we generally went to the school when Grandpa took Grandma to visit her mother at the mental hospital in Nevada, Missouri. Perhaps he dropped her off there and then took us to see the school, run off some steam, and go visit his sister, Gladys.
